Just my musing on how educational structure could work and
thought I would share. Not sure this is the right place but it will do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Students attend class 30 hours per week
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Broken down as 20 core hours, 6 elective hours, and 4 sport hours.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Core Subjects
!Maths +4
!English +4
!Science +4
!Prime Elective +4
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Core Major Subjects
2x Core must be extended to +6;
+2 to core A (i.e. one of the !)
+2 to core B (i.e. one of the !)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
School Sport +4
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Core Subjects may be any class taut by the indicated department.
e.g.. Physics is part of Science, Literature part of English, etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Elective Subjects (including the 'prime') require a teacher with
expertise on the topic. This subject does not need a department.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The remaining hours may be any combo totalling +6 hours.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The +6 may consist of elected or core subjects,
however no subject may exceed 8 hours.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Some electives may have prerequisites such as high grades in the
preceding years, entry exams or physical requirements.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Over time all subjects can be 'evolved'
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A students overall grade is 75% of -ALL- core subjects (15 hours)
plus the best 11 hours of the remaining elective and core.
The 4 hours of School sport does not count towards grades.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Lets have a smallish school of 900 students
150 students in 5 classes per year
where each class holds 20 to 30 students.
This means you run 30 to 45 class rooms per hour.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
What are the age constraints?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Final year 17 to 18
Senior year 16 to 17
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Early leaving year 15 to 16 (students not planning on university)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Junior years
14 to 15
13 to 14
12 to 13
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A department head must be assigned to each of the 6 school years
to supervise, advise and assist the students under their care.
Over time behavioural traits of the supervisor will be imparted
upon the students under their care.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
