HHS+ Release Thread [Latest playable: 1.04]

Hi all,

This post contains all the public releases of the HHS+ game that have been there.

The original game code is in parts from Zythen and got heavy altered by us. It is available in a SVN repository that is mentioned in the development subform, if you are interested.

Let me just say that I have played nearly every version of this game up to date, and I must say that this is absolutely incredible. with the level of interactivity even at this stage is amazing, the fact that you can see every student individualy, and the fact that you can travel around the entire city. This is just absolutely astounding. That's not to say that it looks anywhere close to done. But If it continues like this I just have to say that I don't think anyone will be disappointed. All that said if you want me to tell you what I think is a problem I can do that to. Just not in this post.

I registered just for this topic.
The demo is very exciting, it should lead to a lot of possibilities in gameplay.
Regarding the satistics, School and Staff ones are fine. But the pupils have too much statistics, besides it's not like each single pupil will be a key character during our futur playthroughs.
Age, Gender, Mother, Father, Behavior, Loyalty, Charisma, Happiness, Education, Lust and Corruption (or Morality) are more than enough, also you could use these for the Staff (but Mother/Father are too much for them).

For the suggestions :
 I don't really like the idea of making a school with grotesque things such as "Practical sex class" or "Bondage class". It juste doesn't make sense. I think that a real "corrupted school" would be a place were the students have lots of sexual intercourse, between them or with there teachers, but those would be held secretly through some clubs and locations.
For example, after school the student would gather in the student council room for an orgy, or gangbang the school idole in the toilets / gym depot.
Obviously, the player's job would be to organize those clubs and events with the students and the staff, so it doesn't leak outside. By keeping some mouth shut (through blackmail, rape, drugs...), and corrupting everyone. Im not talking about a "realistic" gameplay, just something more subtle and imaginable.
If there were to be a "Gangbang class", it would be under the school, in the middle of the night...

One thing that I liked in HHS2 was corrupting the teachers, and their events. I'd love to see these improved in HHS+. For example, some event could be held multiple times. I always wondered why I couldn't hypnotise Ms.Fuzushi more than one time. Also, the "Visit" option would be great to trigger some scenes with the Staff, and to train them the way you want (have sex with the teacher, tell the teacher to have sex with a or multiple students, take the teacher into the streets and make her whore herself...).
Eventually, it would be great to have more choices during the "key" events, for the most part it's good choice / bad choice, it would be better to see it like "1rst route / 2nd route".

It seems like I said I bit too much, sorry for the long post. And thanks for all the work you have done, and all the work you're going to do.

Regarding the teachers, I prefer HHS2 pictures xD
(Just kidding, I guess that you didn't have much time to work on the visuals)

I really don't know where to start. About the characteristics:

The school:
well for the school are not so many, and are all needed. maybe moral can be deleted and when it's needed can be replaced by behavior.

For the people:
if i am not wrong these are all the characteristcs that are used right now

And again if i am not wrong you use these characteristics for everyone (student, teacher, employ, principal etc..), so some of this may be used only by teacher and some others will be used only by student.
I will analyze each one of this because it is simple this way:

My opinion is neutral. Nice to characterize but i think that is not so useful and can be really difficult to handle. Anyway useless for the principal, the player should choose what to do in every different situation.

<Trait>Teacher</Trait>
  <IsCouple>false</IsCouple>
Ok. Is couple what is? for something like twin?

<Intelligence>70</Intelligence>
Not for teacher nor other employ. Maybe for the student, it can be used to calculate how their education level increase... but i think that can be deleted without any loss.

<Education>80</Education>
This is the skill used to calculate if the student is a good student or a bad one. Maybe the principal can see only the grade of the student (A-B-C-D..) and not the stat. And can increase or decrease for various reason.
For the teacher is an imporant skill too. Not used to see how well they are prepared (like student), but more to see how well they teach to the students. It is used to determinate the value of the school education.

<Authority>0</Authority>
Only for teacher. Used for event and maybe can have a minor influence on the school education too.

  <Stamina>50</Stamina>
Only for student. Can be used for the sport activity/sport club... but other solution can be choosen. Anyway before i can express my opinion i need to know wich direction you are going to take about the student engine. so for now no opinion possible.

 <Appearance>70</Appearance>
  <Charisma>70</Charisma>
  <WillPower>70</WillPower>
Only for student. Like for stamina it depend on how you want the student engine to work. So for now i will not say anything. I have probably understood what is your idea, but i will ask you later or this will became a mess.

 <Lust>0</Lust>
A good/useful stat for every one.

  <SexualActivity>0</SexualActivity>
probably i have not understood what it is... is a counter? or a stat? if it is a stat what does it rapresent?
If it rapresent how much the student (only student skill) is open toward sex, (0= don't do it, 100=do it everytime/everywhere/with Everyone)  my opinion is the same for stamina. So useful, but only for a certain student engine.
I said only student because useing a stat in that way for the teacher can be really difficult. But don't really consider this comment, since my idea of the engine you are thinking can be wronged.

 <Corruption>0</Corruption>
Teacher. always good. i've an idea about corruption that i will explain later.

  <Loyality>0</Loyality>
Good for every one

 <Happiness>50</Happiness>
Not really needed. not for teacher anyway. While for student when needed you can use the school "fun" stat, the loyalty of the student or a combination of them (or of any other skill that suits the situation). So this can be deleted.


  <Morality>80</Morality>
Again like for th school. I don't like this stat. And like for stamina it depends more on the student engine.

  <Inhibition>90</Inhibition>
Is not like sexual activity? maybe i have not understood what sexual activity is?

<Club>NoClub</Club>
OK

<Fetish>NoFetish</Fetish>
I really liked this idea. It can really characterize the people more. Anyway it is not for the principal. The player should choose how to act every time. I mean the principal schould have some "skill" but not preselected preference.
For the student and the teacher/employ it has many possible use. so really good.


CONCLUSION:
If you wanted to use every of this characteristics for every <Trait> i think that they are really too much. But if you are going to use them only for determinated traits, it's a good selection.

About Principal gender:
I think it is better to use only Male and Futa. It's more simple to handle for every time that the principal is involved in a sex act. Probably not the best reason to give this limitation, but anyway a good reason.

Layout:
Well i will not comment it for real. Just wanted to say that the map movement you used is perfect. For the rest of the layout (button position, letters etc...) it's bad.. but hey this is just the first alpha and you are going to modify it so many times working on the game that is useless to waste time on it now.

I really liked this first alpha. it has a really good potential and if i am not wrong everything is addable. Students, teachers, objects, schools and even locations!

STUDENT ENGINE:

What are your plan?

if i am not wrong  you are going to make every student visible from the manageschool option. And every student will be a "REAL" character that live in the school. This is a nice idea because of all the implications that it takes, no need to say all of them i think. But at the same time it is more difficult to handle, and give some limitation too.

You will have a fixed number of students, and all are known and visible from tha school office. I prefer the "notable student" idea i proposed long time ago.

I still think that that is a good idea. Anyway is not easy, because of the mechanics between students and school stat, but anyway easier than having a whole school of students (paradoxically^^).

Anyway you have created those student images that are amazing, not for the design of corse, but i really liked that idea and i think that it can be used in the "notable student" too. Those can be used in generic school events, where some students, are "assembled" with % based on the school's stats and rules.



ABOUT CHARACTERISTICS:
skill that can be added like in SM where there is a "special skill" slot free. For example if i want to create a student from the swimming club i can give her skills this way.

ABOUT CORRUPTION:
use this not as a skill/characteristic but as a level. So every teacher (maybe the students too??) have a corruption level.
To increase their corruption level, they must fulfill some requirements like stats or/and events. Unlike the other stat, this cannot go down, and probably a level up means new dress for the teacher, and maybe new interactions with her.



EDIT: This are some suggestion, but thinking on the various possibilities etc.. i had an headache. There are really too many things that must be considered and since you are the one going to program it, just do what you think you can do easily.

While I know what I said earlier, I do believe the layout is not perfect.  I know this is an alpha and tons of work so I guess I'll put my input in now. With the layout I love the city layout and lanscapce, I just dont like the buttons on the map. When my mouse is off the window the buttons are not lit up. I put my mouse over the window and the button light up again but are a little hard to see depending on the background. When I put my mouse over the button, they all go dark again. I'm not what the reason is for that. I would imagine it's hard to come up with a good button system that allows it to be where it needs to be but also not get in the way. I would suggest maybe just a different font size, color, or maybe even highlight color.

With the student layout as I said before I love the fact that each student can be seen individually. I just wish there was a way to organize them other then class, sort of like with HHS2 where you can catogarize by stat. That way you can see the kind of students with a certain stat that you want without having to hunt.

Don't know what else to suggest right now. Might do more later.

i like the idea behind this and i think the plan seems to be going in the right direction. I'm wondering whether HHS3 and HHS+ are basically equivalent in terms of plans and have just taken a different approach in showing the plans but i think this alpha is definitely a step in the right direction. Would be nice to see any of these that actually worked but i understand there's a lot of coding to do between an alpha of the basic idea and a working game. Either way i'm happy to see multiple strands of development in this small community

Hi all

Thank you all for your kind comments. Iam glad you like my little project. I will try to anwser some questions.

Iam running with all characteristics from zythen and have added some. He had made a division for students and theacher, I think so because its a while that i have looked on the unmodified code of zythen. I unified the different person classes and added new characteristics. I use by now only a part of them but for later i save them all.

The layout can easily be changed but i dont know what i could make better. Iam no interface guru. If you have a idea how i should alter the interface please tell me. I will make the buttons permanently colored white that let you to the next location. If you like that i will run with it. If you want you can disign an interface and make a sketch to show me what you want.

The school stats are sums of all students right now with the exception of reputation and money offcause. So changing the students will alter the school stats little. I toy with the idea of some students influence the other students like clef has suggested. I need more informations on student concils because in germany we have different organisation structures for the school i think. And i want to implement the pta but here i need more infos too.

@clef what do you want to  achieve withe the special skills. I could try to implement it but want to know for what its neede.

The student engine works for all persons in the game but will only affect the gameplay when its change the students and teacher stats. All stats tend to a specific value and become harder to change when the value goes farther from this specific value. So its becomes harder to and harder to change some stats. Iam not entirly happy with the engine right now and will likely change it.

The teacher have some influence on the students in the study time if there authority is high enough. But i dont like it the way it is now.

@Knoloa I have altered most of the teacher pictures to be more consistent. So iam a bit disapointed you dont like them. This said I thank you for your comment. I want to know what the other think should i not implement the different sex classes? Or have other topics for classes.

I need better pics for the men in the game. I would love to see a link to a CG set of mens. For differnts clothes and heads.

I must say, I'm highly impressed with the potential of your new version Atztek. Just blows your original (and my so far revised) away. *struck by difference in quality*

Also, I'd like to see the code, if you can upload it. I'd love to see the structure of the game from the inside. And take notes.

I notice that you're steering away from the old .dat file system. Is this intentional for the HHS+? I assume that it's for the ease of adding pictures.

Hmm. I haven't had a chance to look into this too much, but I'd like you to throw in some sample events in various locations so I could see how you were going to implement them with the new time and location system.

On the interface, you need to have a "return to world map" option available. Once you are in the school and have looked around a bit there is no method I could see of returning to it. This effectively prevents any "outside school" options.

On the structure of the school, HHS1 used Japanese High Schools as their basis, HHS2 borrowed from it and a bit from American schools (as far as I could tell) and you probably had some German ideas mixed in as well.

I don't think it's important to have everything exact. In fact it helps by making sure the school doesn't seem like it's from any one particular country.

I'll give you a more detailed analysis later, however I like what I see.

That should work, but doesn't. I thought that was what it was for. However, after I went and visited the Sports Field pressing the back button only took me back to the Sports Field, not directly to the world map.

Thanks a lot, atztek. It'll help a lot.

Went through the game more thoroughly. Besides the return to world map suggestion by Cypress, I also suggest a shortcut button to 'Manage School', and a 'Next Day' button that will move the time to 8am the next day. Or whatever time school opens in the morning. That way, you always have a reference time to go to.

And, hmm. The Visit button pops up in the Detective and Sex Shop, with the picture of the last teacher you visited.

The highlighted text in the pictures winks out when you mouseover them. Maybe you can make the highlight permanent, instead of making them appear when you mouseover the picture? And you might want to boldface the text, so they're more noticeable. either way.

@cypress can you tell me what you have done in the sport field. Had anybody else this problem?
