[HHS+ 1.07] Official Release Thread (HF6)
« on: September 25, 2016, 08:45:22 pm »

UPDATE: Hotfix 6 has been added to the download folder.

It's been 15 months since the last "official" 1.05 release and 6 months since the last 1.07 Alpha Preview (Revision 1301).

Now I am glad to present the current release candidate for the final 1.07 release. If we don't run into any game breaking issues with this over the next couple of weeks, I'll declare it the final release version.

Q: What is new?

A: Listing all the changes since 1.05 would be too much for this post, so I'll just refer to the threads of the releases that came in between:

1.06 (Alpha Preview)
1.07 (1st Alpha Preview)
1.07 Rev 1301 (2nd Alpha Preview)

The major changes since Rev 1301 are:
  • New UI system for events. Everything now takes place in a single window instead of opening and closing windows for every dialog step. This also includes things like the Inventory screen. It also includes a layering and layout system that can be controlled by events, although it's not fully fleshed out for use yet.
  • New lockpicking minigame, which consists of balancing a moving line with your mouse or keyboard.
  • More parts of the old WinForms UI have been changed to WPF.
  • Have Sex operation has been completely overhauled. It gives event authors the possibility to specify in much more detail what is actually happening, and thus also takes a lot more things into account for stat adjustments. The performed acts are also automatically recorded in the Relationship Database, which keeps track of what happens between characters in the game. Event authors can use this to know which character did what with which other character throughout the game. However, this release does not include any events that are actually making use of this information.
  • New save file format. (Not like any of the old saves would be compatible with this version anyway)
  • Several quality of life improvements for event authors and players alike.
  • Plenty of bugfixes.
  • Improvements to some existing events.
  • A few new events.
    (click to show/hide)

You can also take a look at the changelog for this release. In addition to that, the HHS+ chat room (accessible through the menu bar at the top) also contains the commit messages since April, posted by the lovely HentaiBot.

Q: Known issues?

A: There are a bunch of bugs that I am aware of:
  • Parts of the new Management Panel are not final yet. Subjects don't have proper descriptions yet that would explain their pros and cons. Teachers don't have any biography. Students are not classified into "character types" yet, which should give a hint about their stats, which are now hidden.
  • The new PTA events still use a bunch of placeholder text for the consequences. Hopefully someone will take care of them at some point and flesh them out.

Q: Where can I download it?

A: Here (481.7 MB).
This link leads to a folder on Mega that also includes the latest hotfixes. Unpack the base game first and then unpack the hotfix into its installation folder. If there is more than one hotfix uploaded, apply ALL of them in ascending order.

The game is packed in the 7z archive. If your Zip program can't deal with that, you can use the free 7zip.

Please note that from this version onward, the game requires the Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package to be installed on your system. These packages are commonly installed with modern games, so you might have it installed already and are good to go. However, if you encounter an error right at the start of the program along the lines of "DllNotFoundException" and the SQLite.Interop.dll, you may need to download and install the package first that corresponds to the architecture of your operating system (x86 or x64).
UPDATE: According to reports of some forum users, using the x86 version even on a 64 bit OS may help if you run into random crashes at startup.

Will the mods from the alpha version of 1.07 be compatible with this or no?

Hmmmm, maybe I am dense but I do not see a bug reporting thread nor a way to select the 1.07 1361 RC in the bug tracker. Ideally where should bugs be reported?

Curse you Shilo and your diabolical scheme to make me avoid concentrating on my studies like I should be... :P

Too bad my studies are not based in Hentai High School, then I would be acing it all!!!

Thanks Shilo, et al. for providing this to us...

Toodles,

When I tried to hypnotize Peter Hooter, this error came up:

FunctionLibrary\Suggestion\Behavior\ChangeBehaviorMain.ve.xml caused an exception at operation SeqActLat_ShowDecisions (ID: 101).
Latent SeqActions can only be called from the Execute-phase.

Don't know if this is a problem on my part or not.

Hmm, that's really strange. After all it seems to be working for at least some people here.
What version of the .NET Framework do you have installed? 4.0 is the minimum requirement, but maybe it helps if you install a higher version like 4.5 or 4.6?
The only reason why we even still bother with 4.0 is because I still somewhat try to support Windows XP (because one of our more active contributors is still using that). But in reality I'd rather phase that support out sooner than later and bump it up to the newer versions.

EDIT: Looking at the errors again, it clearly seems to be related to the SQLite library. But that one was already used in the 2nd Alpha Preview (rev 1301), so if it worked for you in that version, then it also should work in this.

I get the same error whenever I click "change behavior".

I got an error when I tried hypnotizing a random student I picked up.  No crashes.  I brought her to my office and tried hypnotizing and I got an error.

I'm going to go get some other students and see if the same thing occurs.
