Suggestion for teacher assignment
« on: April 17, 2018, 03:04:25 am »

Is putting a bit Excel into the teacher/subject assignment possible? I would like an extra row, extra column and that "mark all" cell on the cross.
So one could:
assign/cancel a teacher to all subject
assign/cancel a subject to all teacher
AND
assign/cancel everything to everyone

I'm sure it's possible.

The thing is, assigning a given teacher to teach all subjects and assigning all teachers to teach a given subject isn't the best game-play strategy
-  There are various reasons for that, and there are various in-game clues, and help pointers, regarding it
-  It's purposefully left open to interpretation, as working on that aspect is part of the game challenge

Putting in buttons to automatically do that though, would imply it's a good idea
-  And, since it isn't, it would act as a false clue

But sure would be convenient if one played it dozens of times already.

Yeah...?  I have (partly just to play, but as much as anything, testing various elements)
And, personally, I don't see this notion adding much in the way of convenience
-  You still need to hire, assign subjects as and when you do, and update the timetable
-  And, as new things open up, you need to reassign some subjects and time-slots
-  So click-savings wise, it'd be minimal

And, perhaps more importantly, if your intent is for a play through to run as efficiently as possible, you want to be surgical in teacher assignments
-  So adding these options isn't an aid to a quicker game

Perhaps if you cheat money, hire all up front, and use your suggested one-button-does-it-all, it means a few less clicks...?
-  Even then though, the click savings are minimal, and it'd still work against you
-  And, if cheating is the way to go for a given play through, what does it matter?
-  Just cheat stats, and don't sweat the assignments

So all-in-all, I see a notable downside, and that comes with no notable upside
-  Aside from not being useful game-play wise, as already covered: it adds confusion via a misleading implication
-  Maybe that could be mitigated by making it an "advanced option for those that cheat", or some such?
-  Still, not at all sure why one would want that though
