Sorry, I've included a proof-of-concept version of the badge system that Herman requested and some funkyness crept up in the UI, I will fix it quickly.
Meanwhile, if you want to test it, there is a white '+' sign on girls portraits that allows you to add a badge (only works on the girls screen). The cool thing is, you can add any icon you like in the "UI/badges/" directory and it will show up in game.

By the way, if someone with time and a talent for graphics wants to propose a selection of badges instead of the placeholders I've set, please be my guest!

I played a bit with the badge system, and I like it a lot. Only two improvements come to my mind:
  • show the badge at the girl's detail screen, too,
  • move the badge editing to the detail screen only, so that in the list it's shown but not clickable.
It's too easy to click the badge in the list, as it's quite big. Moving the badge editing to the girl's detail screen would solve that problem.

Edit: Ok, a third idea. Make it possible to assign a mouseover tip to the badge, and show its contents in the badge mouseover in the girls list, in the girl's detail screen, and in the badge selection window. To avoid coding the user prompt, saving the answer, etc., you could just use the base part of the badge filename (so that the badge coming from the file Contract.png is shown with "Contract" in a mouseover). This way the player can rename the badge files as he sees fit, and you don't have to overwork yourself.

That was fixed in one of the latest patch, as part of the _BK.ini sanity checks.
That's good, but you're still not safe from someone putting in 'random' instead of 2 as a skill value. A series of high-level try-except blocks might be safer. Then again, maybe it's too much trouble for little benefit. An .ini maker is supposed to at least roughly know what he's doing.

Also, I thought you moved resource collection to weekly instead of daily a long while ago. Was I mistaken or did you revert this for some reason? Because there's still a torrent of resources pouring in and poor Bast's business suffers from it.

Finally, Papa Freak's exacting standards are getting some criticism on F95. I don't mind myself, but they do require a well-rounded girl and probably some sort of doping on top of that. I can certainly argue for an old weirdo aristocrat liking the package more than the... 'content'. ;) But a case can be made that maybe the girl's, er, skills should be more prominent rather than her looks and behaviour. Maybe make this difficulty-based? Getting a girl to 75/100 in all main stats - most of which will not be very useful to her - is a solid feat. If this was optional content, it'd be entirely fine. But it's the main quest blocking your progression.



Edit: More about Papa Freak: his 'action' is never disabled, and you can rent a girl to him long after you've bought the house and moved in. The sex act also seems to be magical, because the girl doesn't actually perform it, ie no energy loss, no stat gains, nothing.

Edit2: Is the labourer painting supposed to be missing in chapter 1? These guys were the most stable clientele we had... :'(

I'm also still getting suspicious graphics artefacts and having to manually use renpy.free_memory() to avoid crashing. I suggest making this call every time the player hits the main screen. Or maybe every 3rd time, if you're worried about performance.

Also, got this gem here. I suppose technically she is playing with a toy. :-\

Edit3: Stat food stacking sky-high is also not something I like very much. :( I already forgot it was a thing.

Edit4: As long as it's like that and you can buy JP scrolls for a few hundred gold, stat checks can be cheesed like all hell.

I saw that and thought that I was not aware of any girl packs that would need an apostrophe in their name.

Then less that 24 hours I encountered a couple of girls that use them.   There are at least two major Star Trek female characters with apostrophes in their normal name.  T'Pol, just for example.

Or from removing all sex acts while not changing job from Whore (should check if any sex acts remaining when remove one and job is Whore), or possibility user mentioned where stat reduction could remove a sex act checkmark.

Hmm, that may be a different error than what happens when I enter the girls tab. Whenever I enter the girls tab, the game just crashes. It started to happen right after I bought the first brothel for 1000g. I'm using the latest patch as well.

Does it still pop up a traceback or is there anything new in your traceback.txt?

Otherwise, if most of us can play without crashing and you can't, it points to something specific in your setup.

If you can't think of anything problematic yourself, try entering 'renpy.free_memory()' in the console before going to the girls screen. Doubt it'll help, but worth a try.

If that doesn't work, make a backup of your saves, delete both save directories (in 'game' and in AppData), reinstall from scratch, re-update, restart, cheat yourself some gold and go through the motions for entering chapter 2. See if it still crashes. If so, remove all girls and _BK.ini files. Re-add them by halves until error reappears. If that still doesn't work, do the same for all girl packs. If that also fails, I'm out of ideas for now.

Question My game randomly force quits with no traceback is there any quick fixes? Like it glitches and hard crashes with no renpy error log. Does anyone else have this issue?

Okay, I deleted the saves, and started a new game and was able to progress to chapter 2, so thank you! However, I still get random crashes sometimes when viewing girls in the Slave Market. I assume there would be a problem with specific girl packs, or something? I'm rather inexperienced with renpy, and fixing things like this, so I don't have any idea what the problem could be, or how to fix it. I believe the crash either happens when I hover over the girl in the slave market to select her, or it crashes right as I click the girl. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Dunno what causes it, but Help -> Repair Girl/MC pictures tends to solve it when I have this issue.

As a minor issue, I noticed that the brothel report shows Work/Whore girls as having worked as neither, which is a little awkward when it shows '26 girls worked last night' and zero in all categories except my lone dancer who doesn't have the perk yet.

Just wondering what kind of pics are needed for badges? cos i was thinking they would be a good way to depict what category of training a girl is doing (for example Lucy might be just be starting out since you buy or persuade her to work for you in say chapter 3 but you got Ariel mid way thru chapter 2 is starting with sex training) i normally use a notepad word doc to keep track. If i can use a badge instead i wouldn't need to relist which girl is doing what and where at after a game update.

also is there a way to convert or add pictures from a predecessor of brothel king called slavemarker?
