Quick question. If i advance to the third party of the city before finishing the main questline that is still in development on the second part, will i get locked out of it or break the game?

Aside from having to ignore the "ninja hunting" buttons outside of the first three districts, and temporarily losing the tip of how to advance to next brothel, I have seen no bad effects.

Ah yeah, gi simply means "clothing", but I can see how that would be taken to mean keikogi in English.

While we're on the topic of Suzume, why doesn't she say "nin-nin" a lot? :) And since we now have 'best ninja' Suzume, are we also going to get 'worst ninja' Kanami?

Ah yeah, gi simply means "clothing", but I can see how that would be taken to mean keikogi in English.

In Japanese, 着 gi can not stand by itself to mean clothing. It needs to be used as a suffix, as in keikogi or heyagi.
Fuku would be correct in Japanese, however, I'm not really sure if reads better in English.

Japanese also has its weird 'politeness modes', which is why I refrained from any commitment to gi. Paraphrasing R. Feynman, is fuku '[my] lousy clothes' or '[your] most exquisite clothes'? :P

In any case, there seems to be a consensus over at the Rance fandom that Suzume is indeed wearing some type of kimono, even if it's quite loosely related to the traditional form of the outfit.

Fuku is neutral and would be used in both those cases, the rest of the sentence is what would decide if it's polite or impolite.

This reminds me, I read the ninja scripts and I've got to say that it's starting to cross the line into 'femdom'. I can sort of buy the MC taking abuse from Stella&co in the name of 'infiltration', but here he just acts like a doofus and doesn't even try to resist or eventually come out on top ;), like he does with Gizel and Satella. Suzume has to basically drag him into it by the nose. He's a former adventurer, or close enough, but these little ninja girls just smack him around like nothing. Why the King even bothers with guards if assassins can jump around with so much direct combat power, never mind anyone actually dedicated to personal combat?

I think I voiced this concern a while ago, due to a ranting review over at F95. Doesn't seem to have stuck. :(

My bad, it's of course fuku, my Japanese is getting rusty... I've changed it to 'outfit', anyway.

As for the game's story, I like some diversity in my events, and BK is not one of those H-games where the MC will always be on top, or always subservient. There will be some back and forth, depending on the situation and characters involved (and player choices, of course).

As for relative power, the Kunoichi are the best of the best within ninja circles, and your character is nowhere near that level in Chapter 2, even as a warrior. Suzume is also consistent with how she behaves in the original universe: She can slap Rance around and kill him whenever she wants to, and no one could say he's a powerless or 'subservient' character. Kanami, on the other hand, is not Kunoichi material... :P

We got a bug report over at F95 where a new player managed to screw up girl pack installation to the point that he reached this:

Looks like a freak occurrence to me, because this:

I think it's a symptom of
 define persistent.girl_mix = {"default" : []}
not operating like intended, on a completely new installation with no existing persistent object.

Nah, this is a symptom of someone skipping a few patches and landing directly on the latest patch, with an early version of the dictionary that didn't have the 'default' key set up. There is no way the 'persistent' object wouldn't exist, it's default Ren'py and works with every other variables. Besides, the error message is explicitely about the dict key not existing, not the object.

I included a temporary fix that updated persistent.girl_mix["default"] in one of the patches, then removed it after a couple of patches, (wrongly) believing everyone now had an up-to-date dictionary. I should probably have kept that workaround, but I think as we move further away from that old patch it will have less and less value, particularily since people can just get around the problem with the console trick you described.

Some achievements are not working like manias, finding and removing fixations, etc. Is it a known issue? or do I missing something?

I'm going to assume (of course) that you don't play with cheats on, because those disable achievements as soon as they are activated.

Here is what I found looking at the code:

You get love points whenever you pay tax, so it should only be a matter of time.

Okay so this answers my question above. The first one is a placeholder for when/if kite80 completes the jobgirl story, but I should probably disable it for now since it doesn't seem like it's gonna be soon.

But the second one should definitely be activated once you've had sex with the Guild girl. As mentioned above, it's only a matter of time if you pay the guild fees. So I guess this causes the first problem too. Can anyone confirm whether they've succesfully activated the taxgirl H events, or is it a problem for everyone?

Yes, that is intended. Most 'ultimate' achievements require rank 5 (endless mode) to complete. However, I don't see why it would require you to sell all older slaves and buy new ones? You do know that you can rank girls up, right? By the way, slaves in the farm count too, so it isn't technically necessary to have a full brothel to succeed.

Original girls are the ones with golden traits. They aren't that easy to get so it's possible to miss on that achievement if you're not going out of your way to find them (or, conceivably, if your number of girl packs is limited: there can be only one original per active girl pack).

This was likely like this because I previously reported a bug where I earned them all in rapid succession within one early chapter.  Each time I entered the Carpenter area I would earn one until I had them all.  So it looks like you may have fixed that, but introduced a different bug.  Just allowing multiple to be earned at once will bring back the first bug.  Unfortunately it sounds like you may need a more complicated system where each level confirms that the current chapter is >= the minimum chapter for that level. Or just jump straight to the one for whatever is the current chapter, even if the user never earned the earlier ones, since only the one for the highest chapter earned really matters.

Nah I'm not that forgetful: I did make sure the fix for your bug is still working as well. ^^

Now the test will actually check if you have built all furniture for a given chapter before awarding the level, not just that you can't build any more furniture.

Okay, but there's really no reason for him to act like an idiot straight from the start ('It's a trap? Nah, can't be a trap.') Once the aphrodisiac smoke kicks in, or he's in full 'boner mode', fine. But he's not even trying most of the time. I really liked the sewer adventures where he tries and fails against the Pokemon slime monster and tentacle beast, and then despairs. This here, not so much, since he's largely stripped of agency.

I'd be much happier if he tried to fight the ninja girls and had to roll something like strength+d6 vs 15+d6 to succeed, but not with auto-failure. The script right now reads like the Trader version of things.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but ninja are assassins and saboteurs? Not absolute champions of individual combat? And what I recall of Suzume in Sengoku Rance was that she was good in combat, but not in the top tiers of battlefield. She was more of a utility commander. In my playthroughs, Rance steadily gained power and after a while was much more indispensable on the battlefield than Suzume could ever be. In dungeons, I'd also pick Rance over Suzume, even if that's much closer.

Basically, she could kill him with zero effort because she was one of the top five assassins of JAPAN, not because she effortlessly dominated him in a fight.

Kanami, on the other hand, is not Kunoichi material...
Well, Narika isn't much better. But fair enough. So she's free for others to play with, then?

Original girls would have golden traits AND original names, since some girlpacks like Emily Willis are set up in _BK.ini with golden traits in always-traits, which is discouraged. (It's possible to set _BK.ini so there seems no difference for originals/clones, but luckily most packmakers don't.)
Golden names in the city are a less-documented way to find them.

Also note that former Virgins gain a golden trait in place of Virgin; someone suggested these be displayed in a different color, which I second. That "golden" trait would not show on new city or slavemarket girls, though.

Yes, that is intended. Most 'ultimate' achievements require rank 5 (endless mode) to complete. However, I don't see why it would require you to sell all older slaves and buy new ones? You do know that you can rank girls up, right? By the way, slaves in the farm count too, so it isn't technically necessary to have a full brothel to succeed.

I think someone mentioned a while back that the "or above" part of these achievements wasn't working, which would require the sell all/buy. Maybe take a quick look into it?
