I’ve now finished all the free girl lines for Loyal, so they’re ready for proofreading.

I thought this one would be hard for the free free girl part, since she’s defined by her "it doesn’t matter, if like it or not, it is my duty" -attitude to work. For this reason, I just started with modifications to the generic lines. I did eventually get some ideas and I think she turned out alright... she’s a very sub girl with a well-developed sense of duty and low self-esteem.

OK, lots of good stuff there.

I've proofread it and made some minor edits, mostly using exclamation points only when it fits the Love bonus and leaving them out when love addition is zero.

Two cases where Multiple Lines should have been checkmarked yes. Some revisions to make dialogue more natural; if you can't see any difference, I'll count that as a success.  :)

Really enjoyed the minstrel song!
(Everyone else, look up Loyal, cell E11.)

Looking forward to your contributions!

Thanks! I’m not a native speaker of English, so there are probably some weird turns of phrase every now and then.

Looking forward to your contributions!

Hopefully, I should be able to contribute at least 1-2 other girls.

I will have more of a social life in the summer though and just signed a work contract for a busy job starting in September, so my quiet pandemic days are quickly coming to an end.

I’ve finished writing all the free girl lines for Princess  :)  (and also the slave chat origins, 220-231, since I needed to figure out, why she is the way she is)

Unfortunately, this is the last type I will be able to do for a while. The next couple of months will be busy in RL. I’m moving to a whole different country, starting a new job and hopefully holidaying a bit before that. I might be back writing in October-November, especially if corona restrictions continue. We’ll see.

Anyone else want to give this a go? The situation with free-girl dialogue is currently: 20 down, 4 to go. It would be really cool to test the new personality types in the actual game.

I’m back and have written all the free girl lines for Helper, a very talkative sub girl. :)

As with the previous personality, I also wrote the slave chat origins lines (220-231) to get a better understanding of where her personality comes from. (It’s inspired by an article I read, according to which people, who have a strong tendency to please others and put themselves last often had stressed out parents and learned to avoid provoking their anger from a very young age).

Hi again, I’ve been assigning multiple personalities to lines that I’ve written and lines written by others to ‘my’ types.

I have a couple of questions. First to clarify, if I’ve understood correctly. All the lines end up in BKdialogue.rpy (or similar) and all the personalities are added as tags, right?

Does it make sense to also add more general attributes like "very extravert" where it may seem appropriate?

What about adding "generic" for occasional generic lines to expand the pool?

I know little about the new dialogue system, but I'll try to glean something.

All the lines end up in BKdialogue.rpy (or similar) and all the personalities are added as tags, right?
Looks like it. A typical line is
Code: [Select]
add_dialogue("free_offer_job no_lie", ("rebel", "very dom"), ["She gives you a furious look.", "g: Me? A whore? Are you fucking crazy!", "mc: Considering your options, do you really have a choice?", "g: What the... This is so bad. Will it get me out of trouble at least?"], multiple=True, love=-2)

Note that afterwards, the game builds a dictionary out of these, so you'll have something like

dialogue_dict['free_offer_job no_lie']['rebel'] = [...; a Dialogue object saying "She gives you a furious look...", subtracting 2 love, etc; another Dialogue object, ...] and

dialogue_dict['free_offer_job no_lie']['very dom'] = [...; maybe other Dialogue objects; the one with "She gives you a furious look...", etc]; ...].

Does it make sense to also add more general attributes like "very extravert" where it may seem appropriate?
Er, what do you mean? You mean something like "very dom" above? I don't know how _neronero set the spreadsheet up, but I don't see why not.

What about adding "generic" for occasional generic lines to expand the pool?
Same as above.

Ah, thanks! That clarifies it.

Er, what do you mean? You mean something like "very dom" above? I don't know how _neronero set the spreadsheet up, but I don't see why not.

It’s column C in neronero’s spreadsheet and looks just like the personality types ("rebel", "very dom") in brackets in the line you quoted.

I’ll just add attributes like "very dom" and "generic" where it appropriate.

While working through the spreadsheet to see, if there is dialogue that can be tagged for multiple personalities, I’ve come across a couple of lines that I think come across unintentionally funny or are anachronistic.

free_chat_origins Rebel: "I know the streets of [girl.origin] like the back of my hand."

The trouble with this one is that she might be from Arik mountains or Hokoma desert, so we might end up with "I know the streets of Hokoma desert like the back of my hand".

How about changing it to something like "I know every dirty corner of [girl.origin] like the back of my hand"?

free_joke_dark Yandere: "*laughs* Ooh, I know one! How do you make your girlfriend scream during sex? Call and tell her about it.

Yandere likes to tell jokes back :) But, the thing is, do they have telephones in Xeros?

How about it changing it to something magic, like "make a communication spell and tell her"?

What do you guys think?

Could also be just "I know [girl.origin] like the back of my hand", although there's some trouble with articles. Well, there is with the current version as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were other artifacts besides Wyers. :)

You could also change the joke a bit. Like "... Take off her gag!", maybe? :D

Or a more yandere kind of joke, like:

"What's 12 inches, stiff, and makes girls want to fuck you?"
"A dagger." :P

Thanks, man! Some good ideas there  :)

It’s possible to add alternative lines, so I added both the dirty corner and your "I know ... like the back of my hand" version.

Edited the call joke and added the yandere one!

Although I changed the "12 inches" part to just "long, stiff, and makes girls want to fuck you" since it presumes they have a unit of measurement called "inch" in Xeros - remembering we discussed lack of standard lengths in premodern societies earlier ;)

I suppose both feet and inches are ‘natural’ measurements in the sense that they come from human body parts. Apparently, an inch is the width of a human thumb or 1/12 a foot (cf. Latin uncia).
https://aprilmunday.wordpress.com/2017/12/03/medieval-weights-and-measures/

Even though they may not have been completely standard, presumably people would have roughly known what they mean and could measure by their foot or thumb.

You could indeed use thumbs, hands or cubits instead. Or maybe "a foot", since feet are already in the game and a pretty universal (if not universally the same) measurement.

I've created a girlpack with a custom personality, it might prove useful as a way to playtest the dialogue system. The girlpack only uses its own custom dialogue lines, no generic or attribute/archetype lines. I'm especially interested to see where the remaining hard-coded "generic" lines exist ingame, and if there are any that look like they would be interesting to customize.

That would be a good thing to know. I guess a doll is a good way to find out  ;D

I forgot to say, I can’t actually play the game until January, since I am on a work trip until then and only have my macbook and a small work laptop on which I don’t want to install the game. It will have to be someone else.
